Hello! This form is for any student interested in requesting a change in status within the School of Social Work. For example, if you are currently enrolled as a Full-time student, and are experiencing life circumstances that suggest it is more appropriate for you to be enrolled Part-time, then this is the appropriate form to complete. Please answer each question in detail and submit it as soon as possible. These types of requests are contingent on space availability within the cohort and within courses. It will take a little time to investigate availability and implications for your degree plan, thus a timely submission will be helpful.

Please note that during the first waves of the COVID-19 pandemic there were more exceptions provided for changing cohort status due to student health concerns and unexpected emergencies. While we continue to experience subsequent waves, we have returned to the pre-pandemic policy on changing program status. Students are expected to maintain their degree plan as outlined in the MSW contract that was signed upon enrollment. If there is a crisis or emergency students may complete a degree status change request with the nature of the emergency situation - as you did. That there is an emergency or crisis does not guarantee the ability to switch, but we do consider the situation carefully.
The MSW program is dependent on keeping cohorts intact as much as possible and potential changes in student status have ripple effects on other enrolled students because it changes cohort sizes and class sizes. For example, if enough students move from one cohort to another, then we may not have enough students to hold a course because it would be below the minimum class size. Adding to this challenge is that courses are not available each semester. We prioritize emergency and crisis situations on a case-by-case basis, and factor in disruptions to cohorts and class sizes. Thank you for completing this request form and we will reach out to you as soon as possible with a decision or any follow-up questions.
Best,
-Dr. Wooten
