Applying for and receiving financial aid is an important part of the college admissions process. If you are in need of money to help pay for college, chances are you will be applying for several college scholarships. Often, scholarships will require you to write an essay as part of the application process. A great scholarship essay helps the scholarship provider understand the real person behind the application and can be the key to winning the award (assuming you meet the other scholarship criteria).
Scholarship Essays vs. College Essays
Scholarship essays are very similar to your college application essays in terms of strategy. Many scholarship hopefuls will share the same grades, test scores, and ambitions: the essay is your chance to shine (and grow that dream college fund!). The essay is the applicant's time stand out from the crowd and be remembered!

The Apply Texas application is a common application form for most Texas public universities. It allows students to input their information for several different colleges at once. Each school requires a different combination of these three college essays-some require all three, some just two, or others make certain ones recommended or optional. Some schools even use these essays for both admissions decisions AND scholarships so it’s important to put time and effort into each one!
