Now that you have reviewed the different types of Financial Aid available for College, we are going to focus on Scholarships. This activity will help you learn more about different types of scholarships available and how they are awarded to students.
Welcome Scholarship Committee!
You have the opportunity to create and give a scholarship to a high school student who has just been accepted to college. You have received $10,000 from the Bank of Talent Search - San Marcos. It is up to you to create your scholarship and decide who it will be given to.
Please review the following handout about different types of scholarships and some scholarship examples:
Talent Search Workshop Staff, Eros, talks about different types of scholarships and where you can search for them.
Now that you have seen some examples of different scholarships, it's time for you to create your own!
List 5 Eligibility requirements or other characteristics that your applicants must have.
Here some possible examples:
* Must meet a certain GPA (Grade Point Average) requirement
* Must play a certain sport
* Must submit an essay about a specific topic
* Must submit artwork/video
* Must be involved in a specific club/organization/group
* Must be planning to pursue a certain major or career
* Must like a certain food, band/artist, TV show/movie, book, etc.
You can now choose what requirements you would like your applicants to meet. You can be as creative as you want when listing your requirements, however, please keep it realistic and fair. This is your scholarship and we want you to have fun with it, but we really want you to think about what kind of scholarship you would create if you had the chance.
